The Greenwich Hospitality Group recently opened their latest addition to the Delamar line of hotels – Delamar West Hartford.
The Delamar West Hartford is situated behind Blue Back Square at 1 Memorial Road. This new hotel was built from the “ground-up” on a once vacant lot. This 114 room, luxury hotel was designed to meet LEED Gold Standards. The hotel offers views of the popular Blue Back Square, which is within easy walking distance.
Inline with its sister hotels, Delamar West Hartford has a full-service spa, fine dining, fitness center, and more. For those seeking a long-term stay, Delamar West Hartford features sizeable suites, some having full kitchens, in-suite washers and dryers, large living rooms, and dining areas.
The lobby and surrounding seating area is furnished in comfortable and richly colored furniture, marble flooring, beautiful rugs and drapery, and works of art. To the right of the lobby are the gorgeous massive stairs leading to the second floor and beyond.
As you take in the warm and inviting lobby area, listen to soft piano music being played. Looking around you will notice the Blüthner Player Piano that was custom-made for Delamar West Hartford in the back of the lobby. Upon a closer look, you will realize it’s a player piano and it plays the lovely music on it’s own. The piano is a work of art in it’s own right, so spend some time admiring it’s beauty when you visit Delmar West Hartford.
One of the many appealing items that caught our eye as we walked into this luxurious boutique hotel was the unique, one-of-a-kind bench. Upon closer inspection, you will discover the seat is made entirely of quarters.
The hallway walls are decorated with custom made wallpaper. Images of tobacco leaves and mill work gears pay homage to the industries that Connecticut is built upon.
As you walk around the hotel, take notice of the art work adorning the walls. Pieces from Amy Genser display her passion with working with paint and paper. Several pieces from the Diane Birdsall Gallery include works by Peter Kirkiles, Adein Bloom, Nancy Burgess and Paul Rousso. Charles Patrick’s beautifully crafted butterfly compositions are cut from vintage comic book covers and foreign currency.
Delamar West Hartford has partnered with the New Britain Museum of American Art to bring key works from the Museum’s collection to be featured throughout the hotel.
For the fitness minded individuals, the Fitness Room is equipped with modern exercise equipment where you can tone your body.
The rooms and suites range from the Deluxe King offering a king size bed to the two bedroom presidential suite offering two bedrooms with king beds, two large marble bathrooms, a separate living room and eating area linked by a full kitchen.
Delamar West Hartford currently offers two packages to make your stay even better: Date Night and Connecticut Art Trail that include everything you need for a weekend away.
On the ground floor of the hotel is the third installment of their farm-to-table award winning restaurant Artisan. During the late summer or early fall, sitting outside allows you to appreciate the chef’s garden filled with colorful herbs and vegetables.
Executive Chef, Frederic Kieffer, grows a wide variety of herbs and vegetables in his on-site garden that are featured in his seasonal menu.
Artisan’s cuisine centers around a New England flare with a European twist while focusing on local and seasonal flavors.
During the late afternoon, early evening, stop in for Artisan’s “Social Hour” and have a light snack and cocktail to unwind from a long day of work or shopping in Blue Back Square. From their cocktail menu cocktails jump out at you like the Lavender Spritz made with local vodka, Wild Moon Lavender Liqueur, homemade lemonade, and topped with Prosecco. Or, the Strawberry Field, a tasty combination of fresh muddled strawberries, Luxardo Aperitivo, Crème de Cassis, and lemon. The “Social Hour” is held Monday through Saturday from 3:30 to 6:00 pm.
When you’re ready for a exquisite dinner, move into restaurant where you might start off with Roasted Connecticut Blue Point Oysters with preserved lemon, pickled shallot, and bacon. From “The Sea” side of the menu, there is the Nehantic Abbey Crusted Fluke with parsnip, salsify, leek, and Concord grapes.
They serve breakfast everyday from 7:00 to 10:30 am and lunch Monday through Saturday from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Dinner is served Monday through Wednesday from 3:30 to 10:30 pm, Thursday and Friday from 3:30 to 11:00 pm, Saturday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and Sunday from 5:00 to 10:30 pm.
The Delamar West Hartford is a pet (canine) friendly hotel. Your pet will receive a comfortable bed, a personalized welcome kit, and bowls with bottles of water. All well-behaved dogs less than 100 pounds are welcome with a charge of $50.00 per night. A portion of the additional fee is donated to a local animal charity.
After visiting Delamar West Hartford, you quickly realize that comfort, luxury, and attention to detail is at the forefront of not only the hotel, but the staff as well.
