Beardsley Zoo is Launching Its Own Beer with Foolproof Brewing

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is teaming up with Foolproof Brewing in Bridgeport to launch something truly unique: a limited-edition “Beardsley Brew” beer that not only tastes great but also makes a real impact.

This exciting new brew will debut on Thursday, November 7th, from 4:30–6:30 PM, at Foolproof’s newly opened Bridgeport taproom. The event is open to the public, inviting all to come celebrate, meet the minds behind the project, and support a great cause.

Among the event’s attendees will be Beardsley Zoo’s CEO, Jim Wharton, and Foolproof’s Director of Operations, Spencer Churchill, along with members of the zoo’s education staff, all there to share more about the mission that “Beardsley Brew” will help support.

The limited-edition beer features label art with hand-sketched drawings of animals by a local Connecticut artist, adding a creative, locally-inspired touch to each sip.

Even more inspiring, 100% of proceeds from every Beardsley Brew purchase will go directly to the zoo’s STREAM education programs (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math).

By enjoying this new beer, you’re helping fund the zoo’s impactful programs that reach students and visitors alike, nurturing the next generation of scientists, artists, and environmental stewards.

Foolproof Brewing, a Rhode Island brewery known for its adventurous takes on classic brews like the Backyahd IPA and Raincloud Porter, recently opened a location in Bridgeport.

With its new presence in Connecticut, Foolproof brings more than just great beer—it brings a vibrant community hub. Located in the historic Moore Tools building, Foolproof’s Bridgeport taproom offers a curated menu by Forks & Fingers Catering, designed to pair perfectly with their selection of craft beers, cocktails, and wine.

The space includes five event areas that can host several hundred guests, providing a welcoming venue for both locals and visitors to gather.

This collaboration with Beardsley Zoo exemplifies Foolproof Brewing’s commitment to community and creativity.

Beyond producing great beer, they are helping bring attention to conservation and educational efforts right here in Connecticut.

Partnerships like these are great examples of local businesses working together to make a difference, strengthening community ties while supporting meaningful causes.

So, whether you’re a beer enthusiast, a zoo supporter, or just looking for something fun to do, join the launch of Beardsley Brew on November 7th and enjoy a beer that gives back. It’s a chance to celebrate local innovation and contribute to educational programs that foster a love for science, creativity, and environmental awareness in our state.

Can’t make it to the launch party? Don’t worry, Foolproof will still have the beer on tap for a little while longer.
