Butchers and Bakers is a new restaurant, located at 270 Farmington Ave Suite 101 in Farmington, Connecticut. Run by the Locals 8 Restaurant Group, the owners of the popular Plan B Burger Bar, this restaurant offers New American cuisine but you won’t find a burger on the menu. They wanted to offer different food items from the Plan B restaurants. This restaurant is a welcome addition to an area that often lacks in food diversification.

Large outside bar and settings, perfect for warm summer months.
Once inside you see the large dining room presented before you and to the left you will notice what looks like PVC piping in a glass case. It seemed a bit odd to me so I asked about it and found out that those large white PVC pipes are actually a hydroponic system for growing herbs. The restaurant has started their own hydroponic herb garden to give customers the very freshest herbs possible. A very neat concept indeed.
The Butchers and Baker menus gives you lots of choices from salads to the daily meat platter known as the “Butchers’ Board”, a stack of Coal-Fired Garlic Bread covered with a house-made focaccia and Gorgonzola cream sauce, or maybe 4-Cheese Macaroni Carbonara with pork belly, horseradish crumbs topped with a soft fried egg. They also offer a variety of pizzas cooked in their twin coal-fired ovens and even a house-made Red Lentil Hummus plate.
Butchers and Bakers signature cocktails include the Pisco Sour and Rum Swizzle, shown below. Pisco sour is a blend of La Caraveda pisco, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, egg whites, and Angostura bitters. The rum swizzle is a mixture of Don Q Gold and Goslings Black Seals rums, with pineapple, orange juice, a splash of grenadine and Angostura bitters, stirred to frothy perfection and served over crushed ice.
The Butchers’ Board changes each day and when we visited sampled the house-made bratwurst and ribs.
Pork is also on the menu and we found out that they source local suppliers for some of their meats, cheese, and vegetables.
A few of the house-made desserts include the Chocolate Torte, Pistachio Tartlet and Banana Cake.
