Salsa in the Ninth Square

Dance the summer away at Salsa in the Ninth Square, a lively outdoor dance series held on the colorful Orange Street Promenade in downtown New Haven’s vibrant Ninth Square neighborhood. Whether you’re taking your first salsa steps or are an experienced dancer, this free community event offers a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all skill levels.
Each evening begins with beginner-friendly dance instruction from 6 to 6:45 pm, giving newcomers the opportunity to learn the basics and build confidence on the dance floor. After the lesson, participants can enjoy open dancing from 6:45 pm to 8:30 pm on the Promenade’s signature rainbow dance floor.
The 2026 summer schedule includes events on June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, and August 20. Attendees are encouraged to come solo, with friends, or with a dance partner and enjoy an evening of music, movement, and community in the heart of downtown New Haven.
Salsa in the Ninth Square takes place on Orange Street between Center Street and Crown Street.
Admission is free and open to the public.
