Relief Carving Fundamentals with Rick Liegl at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

Learn the art of traditional woodcarving during Relief Carving Fundamentals with Rick Liegl on August 8, 2026, from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History. This beginner-friendly workshop introduces participants to the techniques of relief carving while creating a decorative floral design on a wooden panel.

Designed for both first-time carvers and those looking to build their skills, the class explores the graceful lines, textures, and shapes that make floral relief carving a timeless woodworking art. Participants will receive step-by-step instruction while learning how to safely use carving tools, shape petals and leaves, create depth and shadow, and refine their finished piece.

The $50 registration fee includes a wooden carving panel, all necessary carving tools and safety equipment, and personalized instruction in a small-group setting limited to eight participants, ensuring plenty of individual guidance throughout the workshop.
