Metropolitan Opera Encore in HD – Salome at Ridgefield Playhouse

Experience Richard Strauss’s intense one-act opera Salome in an encore presentation from the Metropolitan Opera on Saturday, May 24 at 12:55 pm at the Ridgefield Playhouse. This special screening features the Met’s new production, directed by Claus Guth, which reimagines the biblical tale in a psychologically rich Victorian setting.

Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the powerful score, with South African soprano Elza van den Heever taking on the demanding title role. She is joined by Peter Mattei as Jochanaan, Gerhard Siegel as Herod, Michelle DeYoung as Herodias, and Piotr Buszewski as Narraboth.

Originally scheduled for May 18, this encore screening offers audiences another chance to witness this gripping and visually arresting performance captured live from the Met stage.
