J. M. W. Turner: Romance and Reality at Yale Center for British Art

Discover the brilliance of one of Britain’s most influential artists during J. M. W. Turner: Romance and Reality, a docent-led tour taking place on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 2:00 to 2:45 pm at the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, Connecticut.

This special exhibition features a wide-ranging selection of Turner’s iconic oil paintings, watercolors, and prints. Recognized for his innovative use of light, color, and atmosphere, Turner helped redefine landscape painting for generations to come. The Yale Center’s Turner holdings are the most extensive outside the United Kingdom, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the artist’s legacy in depth.

Tours begin in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk. All tours are approximately 45 minutes and highlight the unique perspectives of the Center’s volunteer museum educators.
