Explore Fairfield County’s Hidden Garden Treasures

Garden enthusiasts can discover beautiful private landscapes during the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days program on Saturday, July 18, 2026. This special one-day event offers access to distinctive gardens in Fairfield County, each showcasing the creativity, dedication, and vision of its owners.
Registered guests can explore Inwood Cottage Garden in Fairfield, a 1¼-acre landscape featuring native perennials, evergreens, deciduous plants, and a picturesque pergola draped with wisteria and climbing hydrangeas. Visitors can also tour New Canaan Meadow in New Canaan, where native flowering plants, grasses, a stream, and a pond create a welcoming habitat for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
In addition to the Open Days tours, the Garden Conservancy is offering a Digging Deeper program, “250 Years of History at the Mather Homestead,” in Darien from 10 am to 12 pm. The guided experience explores the history of the Mather Homestead, its gardens, and the property’s restoration through six generations of the Mather family. Tickets for the Digging Deeper program are $40 per person or $30 for Garden Conservancy members.
The Open Days gardens are open from 10 am to 4 pm for registered guests. Admission is $10 per person, $5 for Garden Conservancy members, and free for children ages 12 and under when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Pets are not permitted, and advance online registration is required.
