Pirates Weekend & Cruise at Sheffield Island Lighthouse
Set sail for a weekend of family-friendly adventure during Pirates Weekend & Cruise on July 18 and 19, 2026, at Sheffield Island Lighthouse. Hosted by the Norwalk Seaport Association, this annual event transforms the historic island into a lively pirate haven filled with interactive entertainment, maritime history, and unforgettable fun.
The adventure begins with a ferry ride departing from 90 Water Street in South Norwalk. As guests cruise across Norwalk Harbor, they’ll enjoy scenic views of the coastline, islands, and historic lighthouses before arriving at Sheffield Island. Ferry departures are scheduled for 10 am, 11:30 am, and 1 pm each day.
Once on the island, visitors can join the Bawdy Buccaneers, a professional troupe of pirate reenactors, for a day packed with treasure hunts, pirate games, sea chanteys, storytelling, swordplay demonstrations, and lively performances. The activities are designed for all ages, creating an immersive high-seas experience for families, history enthusiasts, and aspiring pirates alike.
Beyond the swashbuckling entertainment, guests are also invited to tour the historic Sheffield Island Lighthouse and learn about the island’s maritime heritage, the lives of its lighthouse keepers, and the importance of preserving Long Island Sound. All island activities are included with the ferry ticket.
