Experience the groundbreaking artistry of J. M. W. Turner during a docent-led tour of Romance and Reality at the Yale Center for British Art on Saturday, May 24 at 3:00 pm. This special exhibition highlights the museum’s unparalleled collection of Turner’s work—the most extensive outside the United Kingdom.
The tour offers insight into Turner’s innovative use of light, color, and atmosphere in oil paintings, watercolors, and prints. Through the eyes of trained volunteer educators, visitors will discover how Turner redefined the landscape genre and continues to influence artists today.
Tours begin in the Entrance Court near the Visitor Services desk and last approximately 45 minutes.
