The Wee Faerie Village is Back at Florence Griswold Museum

It’s a beloved annual fall tradition unlike any other. The Wee Faerie Village at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme is back for 2024!

If you’re looking for a whimsical and magical fall outing, the Wee Faerie Village is a must-see event for both kids and adults.

Running from September 28 to November 3, 2024, this charming exhibition transforms the museum’s 12-acre campus into a miniature world of faerie-sized historical spaces, all crafted by local artists.

This year’s theme is one we’re especially excited about. “Yesterville: A Wee Old-Timey Town” takes inspiration from living history museums like Mystic Seaport, offering tiny replicas of landmarks such as a covered bridge, lighthouse, windmill, and even a blacksmith shop.

Since its debut in 2009, the Wee Faerie Village has captured the imagination of over 190,000 visitors, drawing them into this enchanting world.

And it’s not just for kids—adults often come dressed in faerie wings to enjoy a beautiful autumn day while marveling at the tiny installations tucked into the museum’s lush landscape.

It’s a unique blend of art, nature, and history that offers a perfect way to immerse yourself in the joys of fall.

The event features nearly 30 intricately designed faerie houses, ranging from whimsical shops to pint-sized inns, all scattered along a half-mile walking trail.

While strolling through the village, you’ll also have access to the museum’s historic Florence Griswold House and galleries.

You can easily spend an afternoon exploring every tiny detail or just take a quick trip through the highlights. It’s all up to you!

Special events throughout the run of the exhibition add even more magic, making it a great experience to return for multiple visits.

Plus, the Wee Faerie Village is open rain or shine, so you can enjoy this magical world even on a crisp, rainy fall day.

So grab your camera, put on your walking shoes, and head to the Florence Griswold Museum (one of Connecticut’s best museums) for an unforgettable fall experience.

With a mix of art, nature, and faerie magic, the Wee Faerie Village is one of Connecticut’s most delightful autumn traditions.

It’s the perfect place to enjoy the fall foliage and soak up the creative spirit of the region.

Don’t forget—admission includes access to the faerie village, special exhibitions in the Krieble Gallery, and the museum’s other historical facilities.

Tickets are available on-site or online, and it’s open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Whether you’re a parent looking for something fun to do with your kids, an art lover, or someone simply looking for a unique autumn adventure, the Wee Faerie Village guarantees you’ll have a magical day out.
