Ying Li at Visual & Performing Arts Center

The Danbury Concert Association opens its 2026–2027 concert season on Sunday, September 20, with an afternoon performance by internationally acclaimed Chinese concert pianist Ying Li. The concert begins at 1 pm at the Visual & Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University, located at 43 Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury.

Li began studying piano at age five and entered Philadelphia’s prestigious Curtis Institute of Music at 14, where she studied with Jonathan Biss and Seymour Lipkin. She later earned a master’s degree from The Juilliard School in 2021 under Robert McDonald. That same year, she won the Premio Internazionale Antonio Mormone in Milan and was named a laureate of the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York.

Li has performed with leading orchestras and at chamber music festivals and celebrated venues around the world, including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Verizon Hall at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Cultural Campus, the Chicago Cultural Center, and ACT Concert Hall in Hamamatsu, Japan. Known for her technical brilliance and musical sensitivity, she will perform works by Bach/Busoni, Amy Beach, Stravinsky, and Qigang Chen, showcasing a range of styles from precise and expressive passages to sweeping virtuosity.

Following the performance, audience members can stay for an opportunity to meet Li in person. Single tickets are $33.85 and can be purchased online, at the VPAC Box Office at 203-837-8732, or through the Visual & Performing Arts Center’s Eventbrite page up to curtain time.
