Whale Tales by Talking Hands Theatre at Betsy Paterson Square

Families can enjoy a fun-filled morning of puppetry and sea life during Whale Tales by Talking Hands Theatre, part of the Ballard Institute’s 2025 Summertime Saturday Puppet Show Series. This free, outdoor puppet show will take place on Saturday, August 2 at 11:00 am on Betsy Paterson Square in Downtown Storrs.
Designed to delight young audiences, Whale Tales transforms the square into a pop-up aquarium where children can meet a colorful cast of sea creatures including a walrus, a seahorse, and a giant beluga whale. This musical puppet performance combines education and entertainment, offering a unique opportunity to learn about marine life through storytelling and song.
The event is part of a series of free, family-friendly shows presented by the Ballard Institute. Seating is first come, first served, and guests are encouraged to bring blankets or portable chairs. In case of inclement weather, the performance will move indoors to the Ballard Institute Theater at 1 Royce Circle.
Admission is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. For more information, visit bimp.uconn.edu.
