The acclaimed Broadway musical Water for Elephants comes to The Bushnell from June 2 through June 7, 2026.
Performance times are June 2 through June 6 at 7:30 pm, June 6 at 2 pm, and June 7 at 1 pm and 6:30 pm. The production runs approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, including intermission.
Based on the bestselling novel by Sara Gruen, Water for Elephants tells the story of a young man who, after a devastating loss, jumps aboard a moving train and discovers a new life among the performers and workers of a traveling circus. Told through the perspective of his older self, the production explores themes of love, reinvention, resilience, and finding hope in unexpected places.
Directed by Tony Award nominee Jessica Stone, the musical features a book by Tony nominee Rick Elice and an original score by PigPen Theatre Co.. The production has earned praise for its imaginative staging, emotional storytelling, and large-scale theatrical spectacle.
Recommended for ages 8 and older, the production includes smoke, haze, and gunshot sound effects.
