Walking Through Deep Time at UConn at the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History

November 8 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Walking Through Deep Time at UConn at the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History

Explore the ancient story beneath your feet during Walking Through Deep Time at UConn, a guided walk led by Professor Robert Thorson. This leisurely tour across UConn’s historic campus invites participants to discover the geological and historical layers that define the landscape. The journey will highlight the materials used in the university’s early 20th-century buildings, how glacial movements shaped the campus layout, and the origins of Swan Lake. Participants will also enjoy a metaphorical “walk through time” using bricks as a visual scale and visit the symbolic Stone Pavilion.

The event concludes with an optional half-hour exercise walk to explore additional geological and environmental points of interest across campus.

The walk takes place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm at the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History, 75 North Eagleville Road, Storrs, Connecticut. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
