Virtual Art in Focus at Fairfield University Art Museum

Art takes center stage in an engaging online conversation series presented by the Fairfield University Art Museum. Virtual Art in Focus invites participants to explore a single artwork featured in the exhibition For Which It Stands… through an informal, discussion-based format led by Curator of Education and Academic Engagement Michelle DiMarzo.

Each one-hour virtual session highlights a different work from the exhibition. Upcoming programs include discussions on March 13, 2026 at 1 am, April 10, 2026 at 1 am, and May 8, 2026 at 7 am. Featured artists span more than a century of American art, from Childe Hassam’s Italian Day, May 1918 to contemporary works by Jane Hammond, Julie Mehretu, and Rosson Crow.

For Which It Stands… examines depictions of the American flag through more than 70 works in a range of media, challenging viewers to consider who the flag represents and how its meaning has evolved. The exhibition is part of America250: The Promise and Paradox, Fairfield University’s initiative exploring 250 years of the American experiment.

This online program is presented by the Fairfield University Art Museum, 200 Barlow Road, Fairfield, CT 06824. Registration and additional details are available at fairfield.edu/museum.
