The elegance and drama of the Roaring Twenties take center stage in The Great Gatsby Ballet, presented by the World Ballet Company at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven on Sunday, May 18. This new full-length production brings F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel to life through powerful choreography, evocative music, and dazzling visuals.
Choreographed by Ilya Zhivoy, the performance explores the passion and heartbreak of Jay Gatsby’s doomed love story with a style that is both dynamic and sensual. Composer Anna Drubich makes her ballet debut with an original score that captures the vibrant energy of the Jazz Age, while costume designer Sonya Vartanyan adds visual flair with hand-crafted, period-inspired costumes.
Featuring a multinational cast of 40 professional dancers and groundbreaking set design, The Great Gatsby Ballet is a visually stunning experience for audiences ages 8 and up. The show runs approximately two hours, including a 20-minute intermission.
