Student Guide Tour: Collection Spotlight at Yale Center for British Art

This student-led tour offers a fresh perspective on In a New Light: Five Centuries of British Art, a wide-ranging installation that examines the diverse cultural forces that shaped British art from the sixteenth century to today. Each tour is created by a YCBA Student Guide, focusing on a unique theme within the museum’s collection.
The installation highlights the global influences that contributed to British artistic traditions, including the movement of artists to and from regions such as India and the Caribbean. Portraits reveal systems of class, race, and gender, while landscapes, seascapes, and architectural scenes reflect cultural shifts, industrialization, and the evolution of society. Allegorical, religious, and historical works further illustrate the complexity and breadth of Britain’s visual history.
The tour takes place on December 14, 2025, from 2:00 to 2:45 pm, with no registration required. Participants will meet in the Entrance Court. Space is limited.
