Student Guide Tour: Collection Spotlight at Yale Center for British Art

The Yale Center for British Art offers a thematic look at its installation In a New Light: Five Centuries of British Art during this Student Guide–led tour. Each guide creates a unique tour that highlights a specific theme within the museum’s collection, offering visitors fresh perspectives on works that span from the sixteenth century to today.
The installation examines the complex history of British art and the global influences that shaped it. Portraits reveal social structures tied to class, gender, and race, while landscapes and architectural scenes document the transformation of an agrarian world through industrialization. Additional works explore allegory, religion, history, and the worldwide reach of British artists and subjects.
This tour takes place on December 13 from 2:00 to 2:45 pm. Space is limited, and tours meet in the Entrance Court. Admission is free.
Yale Center for British Art is located at 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06510.
