River Tales: The River That Flows Beside Me at the Connecticut River Museum

Children and their caregivers can dive into the wonders of nature during River Tales: The River That Flows Beside Me at the Connecticut River Museum. This engaging program combines storytelling and hands-on crafts to inspire curiosity about the Connecticut River’s wildlife and ecosystems.
Designed for children ages 4 and up, River Tales includes a reading of The River That Flows Beside Me by Charlotte Guillain, winner of the 2024 Bank Street College of Education Best Book of the Year (Ecology) and the Good Housekeeping Best Kids Book Award 2023. The story follows the river’s journey past beaver dams, floodplains, forests, and waterfalls, highlighting the crucial role waterways play in supporting life and the environment.
Craft activities take place in the Museum’s Boathouse, with two sessions available on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11 am to 12 pm and 1 to 2 pm.
Tickets are $3 per learner for non-members and free for members. Museum admission is not included with ticket purchase.
The Connecticut River Museum is located at 67 Main Street, Essex, Connecticut. For questions, contact astromberger@ctrivermuseum.org.
