June 1 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Owls Among Us at Pardee-Morris House

Learn about Connecticut’s native owl species and the vital role they play in our ecosystem during Owls Among Us, a special presentation at the historic Pardee-Morris House in New Haven. The event will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 2:00 pm and features owl rehabilitator and educator Gwen Rice, co-founder of Freedom First Wildlife Rehab.

Rice will share insights into the lives of the eight owl species found in Connecticut, discussing their significance as natural pest controllers and the challenges they face in the wild. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to see two live owl “ambassadors” up close and learn how human activities such as the use of rodenticides impact their survival. The program also includes practical tips on how to help protect these birds, including the use of owl houses and support for local conservation efforts.

This event marks the opening day of the 2025 season at Pardee-Morris House and is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.

The Pardee-Morris House is located at 325 Lighthouse Road, New Haven, CT. For more details or to register, visit newhavenmuseum.org or call (203) 562-4183.
