Mosquitoes Staged Reading at Milford Arts Council

April 12 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Mosquitoes Staged Reading at Milford Arts Council

A new theatrical adaptation brings a fresh perspective to a literary classic on April 12, 2026 at 4 pm at the Milford Arts Council, 40 Railroad Avenue South, Milford, CT 06460.

Presented as part of Eastbound Theatre’s Plays in Development series, this staged reading reimagines Mosquitoes, the 1927 novel by William Faulkner, through a modern lens. Adapted by Germaine Shames and directed by Martha Schmoyer LoMonaco, the production explores themes of class, identity, and human behavior with a contemporary, feminist perspective.

Set aboard a luxury yacht in New Orleans, the story follows a widowed arts patron who invites an eclectic group of French Quarter artists to entertain her niece. When the yacht runs aground and supplies begin to run low, tensions rise and relationships unravel, revealing both humor and deeper emotional truths. The play blends sharp dialogue with a mix of eccentric characters, offering both a coming-of-age story and a reflection on growing older.

The cast features performers from across the region, including actors from Milford, Woodbridge, Guilford, Bridgeport, and Stratford.

Admission is free and open to the public, with donations accepted. For more information, visit milfordarts.org or call 203-878-6647.
