A powerful orchestral program unfolds from April 10 through April 12, 2026 at The Bushnell, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106, as part of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s 2025–2026 Masterworks Series.
This dynamic concert features a compelling lineup of works by Hector Berlioz, Johannes Brahms, and Clarice Assad, blending dramatic intensity with expressive depth. The program opens with Berlioz’s King Lear Overture, making its Hartford Symphony Orchestra debut with vivid orchestration that captures the emotional turbulence of Shakespeare’s tragedy.
Composer and pianist Clarice Assad takes the stage as soloist in her own work, FLOW, Concerto for Piano, offering a unique perspective as both creator and performer. The program continues with Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, celebrated for its lyrical richness and tightly woven structure, showcasing the composer’s mastery of form and emotion.
The evening concludes with Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, bringing a lively and rhythmic finish to the program.
Performances take place on April 10 and 11 at 8 pm, with a matinee performance on April 12 at 3 pm. Tickets are available through the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
