Lecture & Ice Cream Social: Building an Empire: A.C. Petersen at Playhouse on Park

A fascinating look at local history paired with a classic sweet treat will take place on May 31, 2026 at 4 pm at the Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road, West Hartford, CT 06119.

Hosted in the theater’s historic former milk delivery truck garage, Lecture & Ice Cream Social: Building an Empire: A.C. Petersen explores the story of Danish immigrant Andrew C. Petersen and the dairy business that became a Connecticut institution. Drawing from Petersen family archives and newly uncovered research, the presentation will be led by Chuck Coursey, host and producer of the Trout Brook Tales podcast, alongside West Hartford Town Historian Mary Donohue.

Guests will also enjoy ice cream provided by the neighboring A.C. Petersen Farms Restaurant, adding a nostalgic touch to the afternoon’s program.

The lecture runs approximately one hour. Admission is $15 per person, plus a $3.50 service fee, with all proceeds benefiting Playhouse on Park.
