HSO Masterworks Series: Beethoven & Sibelius at Maxwell M. and Ruth R. Belding Theater

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s 2025–2026 Masterworks Series continues with a program of grandeur and evolution under the direction of Viswa Subbaraman. The concert opens with Carl Nielsen’s radiant Helios Overture, an orchestral depiction of the sun’s journey across the sky. Guest pianist Drew Petersen then takes the stage for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a masterful blend of stormy intensity and lyrical beauty. The evening concludes with Sibelius’ triumphant Symphony No. 5, inspired by nature and transformation and featuring the composer’s soaring “swan call” motif.

Performances take place on Friday, October 17, and Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 8 pm, and Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 3 pm at the Maxwell M. and Ruth R. Belding Theater in Hartford. All tickets are sold through the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
