Hero: The Boy From Troy at The Bushnell Hartford

A powerful story of courage and conviction comes to life in Hero: The Boy From Troy, part of the 2025–2026 Bushnell Children’s Theatre Series. Designed for students in grades 3–6, this inspiring production blends music, storytelling, and history to explore the life and legacy of civil rights leader John Lewis.
The story follows Jayden, a student stuck in detention who discovers a book that transports him on a moving journey through the decades. As he steps into the past, Jayden witnesses pivotal moments in John Lewis’s early life, including encounters with Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Through this imaginative experience, he begins to understand how one young person’s determination to stand up against injustice can shape history—and how he, too, can make a difference.
Performances take place on March 3, 2026 at 10 am and 12 pm at The Bushnell, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106. The production runs approximately 55 minutes with no intermission, and a 10-minute Q&A session will immediately follow each performance. For tickets and additional information, visit bushnell.org.
