Fairfield University Presents Kim Daniels for the 2026 America Media Lecture at the Dolan School of Business Event Hall

A timely discussion on poverty, human dignity, and artificial intelligence will take place on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 pm at the Dolan School of Business Event Hall, 1073 North Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, with a livestream option also available. The 2026 America Media Lecture is presented by Fairfield University’s John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences in collaboration with America Media and commemorates the 20th anniversary of the University’s Center for Social Impact and Center for Catholic Studies.
Titled “Questions We Cannot ‘Safely Disregard’: Poverty, Human Dignity, and Artificial Intelligence,” the lecture will examine renewed concerns for the poor in a world increasingly shaped by automation and AI. Daniels, director of Georgetown University’s Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life, will draw on Catholic social thought and the moral principle that society cannot “safely disregard the poor,” exploring ethical responsibilities to those most affected by rapidly changing social and economic realities.
Daniels is a member of the Vatican Dicastery for Communication and served as an expert participant in the 2021–24 Synod on Synodality, where she coordinated a major study group focused on the Church’s mission in the digital environment. She has advised Catholic leaders and institutions on issues including immigration, human life and dignity, and care for creation, and serves as an adjunct professor in Georgetown’s Department of Theology and Religious Studies.
Advance registration is required for both in-person and virtual attendance at fairfield.edu/events.
