Welch rose to national attention with the release of her debut album Revival in 1996, produced by T Bone Burnett, and solidified her place in American roots music with follow-up projects such as Hell Among the Yearlings and the critically acclaimed Time (The Revelator). As collaborators, Welch and Rawlings also played key roles in the Grammy-winning soundtrack for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which helped introduce a new generation to traditional American music.
