Docent Tour: The Architecture of the YCBA at Yale Center for British Art

Explore the iconic design of the Yale Center for British Art during a docent-led architecture tour on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 3:00 pm. Designed by renowned modernist architect Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974), the building is celebrated for its innovative use of natural light and materials that reflect Kahn’s distinct architectural vision.

This 45-minute tour offers a deeper look into the structure’s unique design elements and its role in housing the museum’s collection. Volunteer museum educators will share their insights on how the building enhances the experience of art and serves as a masterpiece in its own right.

Tours meet in the Entrance Court by the Visitor Services desk at the Yale Center for British Art, located at 1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06510.
