Family Program: Beat the Heat at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

Cool off with a day of music, creativity, and family fun during the free Family Program: Beat the Heat on August 1, 2026, from 11 am to 4 pm at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History.

Designed for children of all ages and their families, this interactive event celebrates the joy of music through hands-on activities, crafts, games, instrument exploration, and engaging performances. Visitors can try a variety of musical instruments, create their own instruments to take home, and participate in activities that encourage creativity and musical discovery.

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy crafts, games, and family-friendly activities, along with a sea chantey sing-along led by musician Jerry Bryant from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Kona Ice will be on site from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, with the first 100 snow cones available free of charge.

Families may also register for free music classes led by Miss Kaite of Spirit in Tune. A class for children from birth through age 5 will be held from 2:15 pm to 3 pm, followed by a class for ages 6 and up from 3:15 pm to 4 pm. Advance registration is required for both classes, and space is limited.

The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History is located at 1 Elizabeth Street, Hartford, CT 06105. Admission is free. For more information or to register for the music classes, visit https://www.connecticutmuseum.org/event/beattheheat/.
