Family Day: Hey Bud, Mom’s the Word! at American Mural Project

A creative, family-friendly event takes place on May 9, 2026 from 10:30 am to 3 pm at the American Mural Project, 90 Whiting Street, Winsted, CT 06098.

Family Day: Hey Bud, Mom’s the Word! offers a full day of hands-on art activities, storytelling, and interactive experiences designed for all ages, from toddlers to teens. With free admission for families, the event creates a welcoming space to explore creativity together.

Activities throughout the day include story time and crafts with a guest children’s librarian, kid-friendly tours of the museum, scavenger hunts, games, and a special interactive program celebrating motherhood and flowers. Art projects include crepe flower-making, Georgia O’Keeffe-inspired collages, and flower weaving, with take-home creations perfect for Mother’s Day gifts.

Budding gardeners can also participate in preparing the museum’s planter boxes for the summer alongside local garden clubs, while teens can take part in a dedicated drop-in studio experience.
