DCA Presents Cellist Sophie Shao & Friends

The Danbury Concert Association will welcome acclaimed cellist Sophie Shao and an ensemble of guest artists for a chamber music performance on June 7 from 3 pm to 4:30 pm.

Joined by Carmit Zori on violin, Rebecca Young on viola, Max Zeugner on bass, and Amy I-lin Cheng on piano, Shao will perform a program featuring Elena Ruehr’s Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 2, Charles Ives’ Piano Trio in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, and Schubert’s celebrated Quintet for Piano and Strings, commonly known as the “Trout” Quintet.

Praised by The New York Times as “eloquent and powerful,” Sophie Shao is internationally recognized for her expressive performances and extensive chamber music collaborations. The concert will showcase a blend of contemporary and classical works performed by an accomplished group of musicians.

Doors open at 2:30 pm, and a meet-the-artists reception will follow the performance.

Admission is $25 for adults with open seating. Guests ages 18 and under are admitted free.
