Day Trip to Olana from Florence Griswold Museum
Art and history come together during a special Day Trip to Olana on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 8 am to 6 pm, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of American artist Frederic Church.
Participants will travel by roundtrip transportation from the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme to Olana, the home, studio and landscape envisioned by Church. Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Hudson River, Olana is a National Historic Landmark and one of the most remarkably preserved examples of an artist’s personal vision.
The visit begins with a welcome and boxed lunch at the Frederic Church Center for Art and Landscape, Olana’s new visitor center. Guests will then experience VIP guided tours of the landscape, house and studio, with additional time to explore the special exhibition Frederic Church: Global Artist, which examines how Church’s travels around the world influenced his artwork, collections and the architecture of his home.
The trip fee is $190, with a 10% discount available for museum members. The fee includes roundtrip transportation, admission, VIP guided tours and a boxed lunch with a chocolate chip cookie and beverage. Sandwich and side options can be selected when purchasing tickets.
