This engaging evening program offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process behind some of the most recognizable gig posters in contemporary music culture.
Artists AJ Masthay and Helen Kennedy will discuss their careers designing and printing independent posters for rock, jam, and counterculture bands across North America. Their work has been created for legendary performers including Black Sabbath, Dave Matthews Band, Foo Fighters, Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, Phish, and many others. During the conversation, the artists will share stories behind several of their most notable designs, exploring the symbolism, imagery, and artistic influences that have shaped their work.
The program concludes with a gallery discussion inside Psychedelic Splendor, offering attendees an opportunity to experience the exhibition while hearing directly from the featured artists. The conversation will be moderated by Mattatuck Museum Chief Curator Rebecca McNamara.
Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for sober adults, and $10 for Mattatuck Museum members.
