Cocktails and Conversations: Reflections on 250 Years in American Art at Mattatuck Museum

Art and history intersect during Cocktails and Conversations: Reflections on 250 Years in American Art on May 21, 2026 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at the Mattatuck Museum, 144 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702.

The evening features a discussion with Rebecca McNamara, Chief Curator of the Mattatuck Museum, and Kate Criscitiello, Marcia Brady Tucker Fellow from the Yale University Art Gallery. Together, the panelists will explore how American history and identity have been represented through art in conjunction with two exhibitions commemorating the United States’ semiquincentennial.

The conversation highlights the exhibitions About Face: 250 Years of American Portraits at the Mattatuck Museum and Keeping Alive the Remembrance: Commemorating America’s Founding, 1776–1876 at Yale University Art Gallery. The program concludes with a gallery discussion inside the About Face exhibition.

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for sober adults, and $10 for museum members.
