Bank of America Capalbo Strong Walk at Jennings Beach
The Bank of America Capalbo Strong Walk returns to Fairfield on Sunday, October 4, honoring the legacy of Charlie Capalbo and bringing the community together to support pediatric cancer research and families facing similar challenges.
Registration begins at 7 am, with the 24K walk starting at 8 am from Jennings Beach. The 15-mile course loops through nearby Fairfield, allowing participants to complete one 5-mile lap, two laps, or the full distance. The course keeps walkers close to the beach, making it possible to stop whenever needed.
Participants are asked to pay the registration fee and raise a minimum of $300. Virtual participants are asked to pay the registration fee and raise a minimum of $100.
Founded in 2017 by Fairfield Prep hockey moms during Charlie’s first battle with cancer, Capalbo Strong was created to support Charlie and his family. Charlie faced Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Leukemia and courageously beat cancer three times before passing away in April 2022, just one month shy of his 24th birthday. The walk continues his legacy by raising funds for pediatric cancer efforts, including the Charlie Capalbo Memorial Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as future grants to local hospitals, programs, and organizations that support families facing childhood cancer.
The Bank of America Capalbo Strong Walk takes place at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, CT. The new home-based route allows more friends, neighbors, and supporters to participate while honoring Charlie in the community where he lived and was deeply loved.
