Bishop’s Orchards Launches New Apple Blossom Festival This May

Spring in Connecticut is about to get even sweeter. Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford is celebrating the beauty of the season with the launch of its first-ever Apple Blossom Festival on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Known for its sprawling 313-acre orchard and deep farming roots, Bishop’s is inviting visitors to experience one of the farm’s most magical sights—the apple trees bursting into bloom.

During the festival, guests will have the chance to stroll or ride a wagon through the orchard, where thousands of trees will be covered in delicate white and pink blossoms, creating a storybook-worthy backdrop.

The festival is about much more than just the view. It’s a full day of family-friendly fun designed to connect visitors to the farm’s rhythms and the work that happens behind the scenes long before apple-picking season rolls around.

Local beekeeper Vincent Kay of Swords & Plowshares will be on hand to give talks on the essential role of bees in pollination, a crucial step in the orchard’s growing process. As guests learn about the journey from blossom to harvest, they’ll get a new appreciation for the fresh apples they’ll find at Bishop’s come fall.

Little ones will have plenty to keep them entertained too as this event is absolutely perfect for those looking for something to do with kids.

The festival will have a petting zoo with llamas, dwarf goats, and donkeys, tractor-pulled applecart train rides, storytime sessions, and craft activities.

Bishop’s is also unveiling an expanded outdoor play area earlier than usual this year, packed with a bubble barn, pedal cart track, spider web climb, confusion maze, and brand-new 150-foot-long MegaSlides. Normally reserved for the fall season, the play area will give kids a chance to burn off some energy after a long winter indoors.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy live acoustic music and grab a bite from a lineup of popular food trucks, including Caseus Crispy Melty (serving up gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches), Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ, and a hard cider truck for adults. It’s a full day designed to be simple, local, and low-cost—the kind of outing that makes a few hours fly by while creating lasting memories.

Tickets for the Apple Blossom Festival are $12 per person if purchased in advance, $10 for seniors 65 and older, and free for children under 2. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will be $15 per person.

More details and ticket information are available on the Bishop’s Orchards website.

The Fun Continues All Season Long

This new event is part of a bigger shift at Bishop’s Orchards under the leadership of co-CEOs Sarah Bishop DellaVentura and Carrie Bishop, who are focused on expanding the farm’s “agritainment” offerings.

Along with the Apple Blossom Festival, visitors can look forward to a Peach Blossom Festival in August, Construction Days with kid-friendly mini-excavators, pick-your-own flowers, and the return of the popular Little Red Barn summer concert series starting Memorial Day weekend. We highly recommend checking out their full event calendar to keep up with everything they have going on this year.

Whether you’re coming for the blooms, the food, the animals, or just the chance to enjoy a spring day outdoors, Bishop’s Orchards’ new Apple Blossom Festival promises to be one of the most picturesque new traditions in Connecticut.
