Lecture: Sculpting the Past: Art, Identity, and Commemoration at Fairfield University Art Museum

The Fairfield University Art Museum presents Sculpting the Past: Art, Identity, and Commemoration in Public Space, a lecture by Kelley Di Dio, PhD. This engaging talk will explore how sculpture has long served as a powerful medium for shaping collective memory, expressing cultural identity, and influencing public discourse. Through examples from different periods and regions, Dr. Di Dio will examine the evolving relationship between art and public space, and how monuments reflect—and challenge—societal values.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at the Fairfield University Art Museum, 1073 North Benson Road, Fairfield, Connecticut. Admission is free and open to the public.
