DESCRIPTION:As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of its founding\, history enthusiasts are invited to explore Connecticut’s vital role in the American Revolution during a Scholars for Life program at Central Connecticut State University on July 7\, 2026. \nLed by Central Connecticut State University history professor Dr. Matt Warshauer\, this engaging presentation will examine how Connecticut earned the nickname “The Provision State” by supplying the Continental Army with significant quantities of food\, livestock\, and essential materials throughout the Revolutionary War. The discussion will highlight the state’s contributions to the war effort and its lasting impact on the nation’s path to independence. \nIn addition to exploring Connecticut’s role during the Revolution\, Dr. Warshauer will discuss how Americans have commemorated the Declaration of Independence over time and consider the significance of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary within today’s political and cultural landscape. \nThe evening begins with dinner at 5 pm\, followed by the presentation at 6 pm. The cost for dinner and the program is $25 per person.
