SUMMARY:Women’s Golf Day at Lyman Orchards Golf Club
DESCRIPTION:A full day celebrating women in golf will take place on June 2\, 2026 from 10 am to 9 pm at Lyman Orchards Golf Club\, 70 Lyman Road\, Middlefield\, CT 06455. \nWomen’s Golf Day is an international initiative focused on engaging\, empowering\, and supporting girls and women through the game of golf. The event welcomes players of all experience levels for a fun and accessible day on the course while also supporting a charitable cause within the local community. \nParticipants can choose from 10 am or 5:30 pm shotgun starts and are encouraged to arrive 20 to 30 minutes early to utilize bag drop services. Complimentary range balls and access to the practice range will be available for up to one hour before tee time. \nThe event features a 9-hole non-competitive scramble on the Jones and Player Courses\, along with contests including Long Drive and Closest to the Pin. Following golf\, guests can enjoy appetizers\, dinner\, dessert\, an open bar\, giveaways\, and raffle prizes. Gift card raffles and additional fundraising activities will benefit Middlesex Health Breast Cancer Program. \nAdmission is $90 per person and includes green fees\, cart fees\, food\, beverages\, contests\, prizes\, and giveaways. SUMMARY:Made to Last: Textiles of Early Connecticut at Weston History & Culture Center
DESCRIPTION:A fascinating look at the history of weaving and textile arts in early America will take place on June 6\, 2026 at 2 pm at the Weston History & Culture Center\, 104 Weston Road\, Weston\, CT 06883. Parking and event entrance are accessible from High Acre Road through the Visitor’s Center. \nMade to Last: Textiles of Early Connecticut features presenter Margaret Liljedahl exploring more than 300 years of weaving arts and their important role in American households and the early economy. Guests will learn about historic textile production methods while viewing examples of antique fiber processing equipment collected from across Connecticut. \nFollowing the presentation\, attendees can watch a live weaving demonstration on a traditional loom and gain insight into the techniques and craftsmanship behind early textile production. No prior weaving experience or knowledge is required. \nMargaret Liljedahl\, a West Hartford native and active member of the Handweavers Guild of Connecticut\, has spent the past decade studying historical weaving techniques and restoring working barn looms at museums and historic sites throughout Connecticut and New York. \nThis free event is part of the America 250: The Revolutionary Spirit Lecture Series\, co-sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Public Library\, the Weston History & Culture Center\, and the League of Women Voters of Weston. \nSeating is limited and advance registration is required.
