DESCRIPTION:Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport is gearing up for another season of Zoo Patrol\, an immersive summer youth program that brings children face-to-face with wildlife through hands-on learning and outdoor adventure. Designed for curious young animal lovers\, this popular program offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Zoo while inspiring the next generation of conservationists. \nThroughout the week\, participants explore the Zoo through guided adventures\, interactive activities\, and engaging staff-led presentations. Each day highlights a different focus area\, introducing children to animal enrichment\, veterinary care\, and real-world conservation efforts. Much of the program takes place outdoors\, giving campers the opportunity to experience the Zoo in a dynamic and memorable way. \nZoo Patrol is offered for children ages 7–10 and 11–13\, with 2026 sessions scheduled as follows: June 29 to July 3 (ages 11–13); July 6 to July 10 (ages 7–10); July 13 to July 17 (ages 11–13); July 20 to July 24 (ages 7–10); July 27 to July 31 (ages 11–13); August 3 to August 7 (ages 7–10); and August 10 to August 14 (ages 7–10). Each session runs from 9 am to 12:30 pm\, with drop-off between 8:50 am and 9:10 am and pick-up at 12:30 pm. \nThe cost is $295 per week for Zoo members and $320 per week for non-members. The program takes place at the Hanson Building / Kathy Brady Education Center at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo\, 1875 Noble Avenue\, Bridgeport\, CT 06610. \nFamilies may also enhance the experience by adding an Animal Adoption Box during registration. Distributed every Friday at the conclusion of that day’s session\, the box includes three mini stuffed animals\, an adoption certificate\, an animal fact card\, an animal bookmark\, a “Proud to Be Saving Species” sticker\, and a four-pack of crayons. DESCRIPTION:The Norwalk Seaport Association and the Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society will offer special five-hour lighthouse adventure cruises on June 6\, July 11\, and August 8\, inviting guests to explore two of New England’s most historic maritime landmarks in a single excursion. \nDeparting at 8:30 am from the Norwalk Seaport Association dock at 90 Water Street in Norwalk and returning at approximately 1:30 pm\, the guided cruise combines history\, architecture\, storytelling\, and coastal scenery along Long Island Sound. \nThe excursion begins with a cruise through Norwalk Harbor to Greens Ledge Lighthouse\, one of only 33 surviving “Spark Plug” style lighthouses in the United States. Built in 1902 and recently restored\, the lighthouse now welcomes visitors to explore areas including the Beacon Room\, the Trombos Research Center\, and the historic Maclean Watch Room. Much of the program takes place outdoors\, giving campers the opportunity to experience the Zoo in a dynamic and memorable way. \nZoo Patrol is offered for children ages 7–10 and 11–13\, with 2026 sessions scheduled as follows: June 29 to July 3 (ages 11–13); July 6 to July 10 (ages 7–10); July 13 to July 17 (ages 11–13); July 20 to July 24 (ages 7–10); July 27 to July 31 (ages 11–13); August 3 to August 7 (ages 7–10); and August 10 to August 14 (ages 7–10). DESCRIPTION:Experience life in a 16th-century Pequot community during the Pequot Village Tour\, offered Wednesdays through Saturdays at 12 pm at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center. This 20-minute guided experience provides an immersive look at the traditions\, daily life\, and enduring cultural heritage of the Pequot people. \nGuests will explore a recreated Pequot village nestled among the trees\, where traditional wetu homes and hands-on demonstrations bring history to life. Along the guided tour\, visitors will learn about family life\, community traditions\, cooking\, weaving\, storytelling\, and other everyday activities while gaining insight into life before and after European contact. \nThe experience is enhanced by the natural sights\, sounds\, and scents of the Eastern Woodlands\, creating an engaging environment that helps visitors connect with the history and culture of the Pequot people. \nThe guided tour is available with general Museum admission plus an additional $10 per person. \nThe Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center is located at 110 Pequot Trail\, Mashantucket\, CT 06338.
