SUMMARY:The First: Witchcraft in Connecticut at Old Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:Connecticut’s early witchcraft trials unfolded across multiple communities and decades\, long before the infamous Salem trials of 1692. The Glebe House Museum presents The First: Witchcraft in Connecticut\, a live historical presentation examining the state’s earliest witchcraft prosecutions and the lives affected by accusations\, imprisonment\, exile and execution. \nHosted by “The Witch of Woodbury\,” Moll Cramer\, a historical figure who was accused of witchcraft and banished from town\, the presentation places her story within the broader history of Connecticut’s witchcraft trials. The program also explores the experiences of Thomas Allyn\, Rebecca Greensmith and Katherine Harrison\, offering a closer look at the people behind these historical cases. The expanded presentation was developed by the Glebe House Museum and historian and volunteer Linda Barr-Gale\, with support from Newtown Savings Bank. \nThe program will take place on Saturday\, October 3\, 2026\, at Old Town Hall\, located at 5 Mountain Road in Woodbury. Doors open at 5 pm\, and the program begins at 5:30 pm. The presentation runs approximately two hours\, including an intermission\, with general admission seating. Complimentary refreshments will be served during intermission. \nAdvance tickets are $25 per person\, while tickets purchased at the door are $30. Advance purchase is recommended because seating is limited.
