DESCRIPTION:A new exhibition exploring the life and legacy of a Revolutionary War-era Connecticut woman will be on view from May 9 through December 17\, 2026 at the Weston History & Culture Center\, 104 Weston Road\, Weston\, CT 06883. Parking and entrance are accessible from High Acre Road through the Visitor’s Center. \nSarah Treadwell: Connecticut Mom\, American Patriot highlights the story of Sarah Treadwell and the important yet often overlooked role women played during the American Revolution. Through personal history and historical context\, the exhibit explores Sarah’s resilience as a wife\, mother\, and community member while her family took an active role in the fight for independence. \nVisitors will learn about daily life during and after the Revolutionary War\, the experiences of veterans and widows navigating the pension process\, and the challenges faced by families living in the North Fairfield area\, which later became Weston and Easton. The exhibit also sheds light on the broader contributions women made to sustaining homes and communities during America’s founding years. \nCurated by Mark Brennan with research assistance from the Historical Society of Easton\, the exhibition is funded in part by a grant from Connecticut Humanities in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary. \nThe exhibit is open during public hours every Thursday from 1 pm to 4 pm and on the first and last Sunday of each month from 1 pm to 4 pm. SUMMARY:Made to Last: Textiles of Early Connecticut at Weston History & Culture Center
DESCRIPTION:A fascinating look at the history of weaving and textile arts in early America will take place on June 6\, 2026 at 2 pm at the Weston History & Culture Center\, 104 Weston Road\, Weston\, CT 06883. Parking and event entrance are accessible from High Acre Road through the Visitor’s Center. \nMade to Last: Textiles of Early Connecticut features presenter Margaret Liljedahl exploring more than 300 years of weaving arts and their important role in American households and the early economy. Guests will learn about historic textile production methods while viewing examples of antique fiber processing equipment collected from across Connecticut. \nFollowing the presentation\, attendees can watch a live weaving demonstration on a traditional loom and gain insight into the techniques and craftsmanship behind early textile production. No prior weaving experience or knowledge is required. \nMargaret Liljedahl\, a West Hartford native and active member of the Handweavers Guild of Connecticut\, has spent the past decade studying historical weaving techniques and restoring working barn looms at museums and historic sites throughout Connecticut and New York. \nThis free event is part of the America 250: The Revolutionary Spirit Lecture Series\, co-sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Public Library\, the Weston History & Culture Center\, and the League of Women Voters of Weston. \nSeating is limited and advance registration is required. SUMMARY:Logical Pretzel – Music at the Barn 2026 at Weston History & Culture Center
DESCRIPTION:An evening of classic rock and jazz-inspired favorites will take place on June 7\, 2026 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at the Weston History & Culture Center\, 104 Weston Road\, Weston\, CT 06883. Parking and entrance are accessible from High Acre Road. \nLogical Pretzel returns to launch the 11th season of the Music at the Barn Outdoor Summer Concert Series with a lively tribute to the music of Steely Dan. The eight-piece ensemble performs fan favorites including “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number” and “My Old School\,” along with deeper cuts inspired by the signature sound of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. \nKnown throughout Fairfield County for energetic live performances\, Logical Pretzel has appeared at venues and festivals including the Norwalk Oyster Festival\, Park City Music Hall\, BRYAC\, and Sugar Hollow Tap Room. The musicians also perform with a variety of established regional bands\, bringing extensive live music experience to the stage. \nThe concert takes place outdoors on the grounds of the historic Coley Homestead. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs\, picnic dinners\, and beverages to enjoy during the performance. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. \nAdmission is $15 for Weston History & Culture Center members\, $20 for non-members\, and free for children ages 12 and under.
