DESCRIPTION:An evening celebrating photography\, storytelling\, and personal reflection will take place on June 25\, 2026 at 6 pm at the Garde Arts Center\, 325 State Street\, New London\, CT 06320. \nPhotographer and author Debbie McGrath will officially launch her new coffee table book\, Other People’s Chairs\, a collection that combines photography\, personal stories\, reflections\, and quotations inspired by moments captured throughout her life and travels. \nHeld in the Oasis Room\, the evening includes conversation\, music\, and opportunities for guests to connect with the author and explore the themes behind the book. Admission includes a signed copy of Other People’s Chairs. Music for the event will be provided by DJ JAYPO. \nLight refreshments will be served\, and a cash bar will be available throughout the evening. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase framed and printed photographic selections from the book\, available exclusively during the launch event. This compact yet vibrant landscape includes a vegetable garden\, composting area\, flowering lawn\, and a peaceful reading nook. Designed with a focus on New England native and keystone plants\, the garden highlights efforts to restore ecological balance by replacing invasive species with beneficial plantings. \nVisitors can also explore Kentford Farm in Stonington\, a historic six-acre property featuring winding pathways lined with weeping cherry trees\, Norway spruce\, copper beech\, Franklinia trees\, and other notable plantings. Distinctive features include a walk-in root cellar and a picturesque koi pond\, creating a tranquil setting that blends horticulture with history. \nThe gardens will be open to registered guests from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is $10 per person or $5 for Garden Conservancy members. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
