DESCRIPTION:A series of curator-led tours exploring the exhibition For Which It Stands… will take place throughout the spring at the Fairfield University Art Museum\, 1073 North Benson Road\, Fairfield\, CT 06824. \nLed by Carey Weber\, curator of the exhibition and executive director of the Fairfield University Art Museum\, these tours offer an in-depth look at the works and themes behind the exhibition. Each session focuses on a single gallery location\, either the Bellarmine Hall Galleries or the Walsh Gallery at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. \nTour dates include Thursday\, March 26 at 5:30 pm in the Bellarmine Hall Galleries; Thursday\, April 30 at 12 pm in the Bellarmine Hall Galleries; Thursday\, April 30 at 5:30 pm at the Walsh Gallery in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts; Wednesday\, May 27 at 12 pm at the Walsh Gallery; and Thursday\, June 18 at 5:30 pm in the Bellarmine Hall Galleries. \nThe exhibition examines depictions of the American flag through more than 70 works by a diverse group of artists\, beginning with Childe Hassam’s Italian Day\, May 1918\, created during World War I\, and continuing to contemporary works\, including a textile sculpture commissioned for the exhibition by Maria de Los Angeles. DESCRIPTION:Rina Banerjee’s suspended installation reimagines the iconic form of the Taj Mahal through contemporary materials and perspective. Rather than marble and permanence\, Banerjee constructs her palace from a steel and copper frame wrapped in translucent pink cellophane\, challenging assumptions about luxury\, history\, and cultural legacy. Floating above the ground\, the tentlike structure encloses objects that reference colonial histories\, including an antique Anglo-Indian Bombay chair and a chandelier assembled from foam\, plastic beads\, synthetic elements\, and artificial birds. The work reflects Banerjee’s distinctive practice of combining found objects with consumer materials gathered from markets near her New York home. \nBanerjee\, who received her MFA from the Yale School of Art in 1995\, sees this work return to New Haven for its first display at the museum since its acquisition in 2023. The installation is on view from February 7 through July 26\, 2026\, at the Yale Center for British Art\, 1080 Chapel Street\, New Haven\, CT. The museum is open Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is free.

The lineup includes Snakeskin Boots\, Ellis Island\, ZX3\, The Bad Saints\, The Other Four\, King’s Highway\, and The Noodlers\, a faculty band featuring Fairfield University professors. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and enjoy live music\, family-friendly activities\, snacks\, and crafts throughout the afternoon and evening. \nEarlier in the day\, the Fairfield University Store at 1499 Post Road will host free performances from 9 am to 6 pm featuring Shamrogues\, John Van Dyck\, Julie Foldesi\, Parker’s Tangent\, Sadie Zabar\, K.J. Whitton\, The Flatts\, Bill Dempsey\, and Sean O’Reilly. DESCRIPTION:Experience the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ with fellow soccer fans at Downtown New Haven’s World Cup Village\, taking over Pitkin Plaza throughout June and July. Presented in partnership with Trinity Bar & Restaurant\, this free community viewing experience transforms downtown into a gathering place for fans to cheer on their favorite teams\, enjoy local food specials\, and celebrate the world’s biggest sporting event. \nMost matches will be screened outdoors at Pitkin Plaza\, creating a lively festival atmosphere complete with fellow supporters\, outdoor seating\, and family-friendly fun. Matches that cannot be shown outside due to local noise ordinances or weather conditions will be available indoors at Trinity Bar & Restaurant. \nThe first round of screenings begins on June 11 and continues daily through June 27\, featuring dozens of World Cup matches from across the tournament’s group stage. Additional screenings for the knockout rounds and championship matches will continue through July 19. \nVisitors can take advantage of special dining promotions from local restaurants throughout the tournament\, including discounts and special World Cup-themed meals from Trinity Bar & Restaurant\, Tacos Los Gordos\, It’s Thai Time\, Blue Orchid\, Sweet Mary’s Bakery\, and other participating downtown businesses. \nThe World Cup Village is free to attend and welcomes fans of all ages. Leashed pets are also welcome at outdoor screenings.
