DESCRIPTION:Broadway stars Raissa Katona Bennett and Arbender Robinson will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with A Musical Melting Pot on Saturday\, November 14\, at 7 pm at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk. The concert will pay tribute to the American dream and explore the evolution of the Great American Songbook from 1776 to the present day. \nThe evening will feature timeless classics\, pop favorites\, and Broadway selections\, highlighting the contributions of immigrants who became Americans\, American-born composers\, and songs from abroad that became part of the American musical tradition. Bennett and Robinson will bring their powerhouse vocals and storytelling to the stage\, with musical direction by Mark Janas. \nBennett appeared on Broadway as Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera and in Chess\, with additional credits including national tours of Cats and Parade. Robinson spent 17 consecutive years on Broadway in 11 productions\, including Beautiful: The Carole King Musical\, The Lion King\, The Little Mermaid\, The Book of Mormon\, Les Misérables\, and Shuffle Along. He was the first African American to play Marius in Les Misérables on Broadway. \nFollowing the concert\, guests can tour the Mansion’s first floor and enjoy refreshments in the Green Room.
