The program also explores the experiences of Thomas Allyn\, Rebecca Greensmith and Katherine Harrison\, offering a closer look at the people behind these historical cases. The expanded presentation was developed by the Glebe House Museum and historian and volunteer Linda Barr-Gale\, with support from Newtown Savings Bank. \nThe program will take place on Saturday\, October 3\, 2026\, at Old Town Hall\, located at 5 Mountain Road in Woodbury. DESCRIPTION:The Bank of America Capalbo Strong Walk returns to Fairfield on Sunday\, October 4\, honoring the legacy of Charlie Capalbo and bringing the community together to support pediatric cancer research and families facing similar challenges. \nRegistration begins at 7 am\, with the 24K walk starting at 8 am from Jennings Beach. The 15-mile course loops through nearby Fairfield\, allowing participants to complete one 5-mile lap\, two laps\, or the full distance. The course keeps walkers close to the beach\, making it possible to stop whenever needed. \nParticipants are asked to pay the registration fee and raise a minimum of $300. Virtual participants are asked to pay the registration fee and raise a minimum of $100. \nFounded in 2017 by Fairfield Prep hockey moms during Charlie’s first battle with cancer\, Capalbo Strong was created to support Charlie and his family. Charlie faced Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Leukemia and courageously beat cancer three times before passing away in April 2022\, just one month shy of his 24th birthday. The walk continues his legacy by raising funds for pediatric cancer efforts\, including the Charlie Capalbo Memorial Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute\, as well as future grants to local hospitals\, programs\, and organizations that support families facing childhood cancer. \nThe Bank of America Capalbo Strong Walk takes place at Jennings Beach in Fairfield\, CT. SUMMARY:Loyalty and Zeal: Algonkians of the Revolution at Weston History & Culture Center
DESCRIPTION:The Weston History & Culture Center will explore the contributions and experiences of Algonkian peoples during the American Revolution with Loyalty and Zeal: Algonkians of the Revolution on Sunday\, October 4\, from 2 pm to 4 pm. Guests can stop by anytime during the program for a demonstration and discussion led by Drew Shuptar-Rayvis\, a citizen of the Pocomoke Indian Nation. \nThe program will examine the material culture and trade of Algonkian peoples during the Revolution\, as well as the complex political choices surrounding patriotism\, toryism\, and neutrality. Shuptar-Rayvis will bring artifacts and reproduction pieces and wear traditional clothing while discussing the contributions\, struggles\, and sacrifices of Algonkian peoples during the War of American Independence. Guests will also have an opportunity to ask questions. \nThe free event will be held outdoors\, weather permitting\, with the program moving indoors in the event of rain. Registration is encouraged. It is part of the “America 250: The Revolutionary Spirit Lecture Series\,” co-sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Public Library\, the Weston History & Culture Center\, and the League of Women Voters of Weston\, with support from the Weston America 250 Advisory Group. \nThe Weston History & Culture Center is located at 104 Weston Road\, Weston\, CT 06883.
