DESCRIPTION:The Mattatuck Museum continues its Lunch and Learn series with a fascinating presentation on AKTION P: Survival of 540K Mercedes-Benz from WWII. This month’s speaker\, John J. O’Leary IV\, will share the remarkable story of war\, mystery\, and survival tied to a rare bulletproof Daimler-Benz sedan. In 1942\, following an assassination attempt on SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich\, Daimler-Benz was ordered to produce twenty supercharged 540K sedans for security\, known as AKTION P. Today\, the only surviving example can be seen at the National Technical Museum in Prague. O’Leary will also recount how his father-in-law\, Richard Reuter\, became part of the car’s incredible journey in 1994 when it was acquired in Tallinn\, Estonia. \nThe program will be held on Wednesday\, September 3\, 2025\, from 12 pm to 1 pm. Guests are welcome to order lunch in advance from Sweet Bella @ The MATT or bring their own meal to enjoy during the talk. \nAdmission is \$10 for non-members and \$5 for members.
