SUMMARY:Milford Makes Creative Reuse Pop-Up at Firehouse Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Milford Makes will transform the Firehouse Gallery into a Mini Creative Reuse Center and Makerspace for a weekend of shopping\, workshops\, and hands-on creativity from Friday\, September 25\, through Sunday\, September 27. The pop-up will offer donated art and craft supplies\, fabric\, yarn\, paper\, tools\, and other creative materials while providing a preview of Milford Makes’ vision for a permanent creative reuse center in the community. \nThe weekend begins with a Preview Night on Friday from 5 to 8 pm. Advance tickets are $5\, or $8 at the door\, and give visitors an opportunity to browse the materials before the pop-up opens to the public. Advance tickets are limited\, and door admission is available as space permits. \nOn Saturday\, the Pop-Up Shop will be open from 10 am to 5 pm. Children can take part in a free Kids’ Bug Collage Workshop from 11 am to noon\, creating colorful paper bugs with donated and reused materials. Space is limited to 15 children\, and advance registration is required\, with a parent or adult caregiver required to remain with participating children. Adults can explore the traditional Japanese stitching technique of Sashiko during a workshop from 2 to 4 pm. Registration and a workshop fee are required. \nThe Pop-Up Shop returns Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm for a final opportunity to browse the available materials. From noon to 2 pm\, local makers can bring their own projects to the regular Makers Meet Up\, work alongside others\, share ideas\, and connect with fellow creatives. \nThe Milford Makes Creative Reuse Pop-Up will take place at the Firehouse Gallery in Milford\, CT. The weekend is part of Milford Makes’ long-term effort to establish a permanent Makerspace and Creative Reuse Center where affordable creative materials can find a second life and people of all ages can learn\, make\, and connect. SUMMARY:Milford Makes Creative Reuse Pop-Up at Firehouse Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Milford Makes will transform the Firehouse Gallery into a Mini Creative Reuse Center and Makerspace for a weekend of shopping\, workshops\, and hands-on creativity from Friday\, September 25\, through Sunday\, September 27. The pop-up will offer donated art and craft supplies\, fabric\, yarn\, paper\, tools\, and other creative materials while providing a preview of Milford Makes’ vision for a permanent creative reuse center in the community. \nThe weekend begins with a Preview Night on Friday from 5 to 8 pm. Advance tickets are $5\, or $8 at the door\, and give visitors an opportunity to browse the materials before the pop-up opens to the public. Advance tickets are limited\, and door admission is available as space permits. \nOn Saturday\, the Pop-Up Shop will be open from 10 am to 5 pm. Children can take part in a free Kids’ Bug Collage Workshop from 11 am to noon\, creating colorful paper bugs with donated and reused materials. Space is limited to 15 children\, and advance registration is required\, with a parent or adult caregiver required to remain with participating children. Adults can explore the traditional Japanese stitching technique of Sashiko during a workshop from 2 to 4 pm. Registration and a workshop fee are required. \nThe Pop-Up Shop returns Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm for a final opportunity to browse the available materials. From noon to 2 pm\, local makers can bring their own projects to the regular Makers Meet Up\, work alongside others\, share ideas\, and connect with fellow creatives. \nThe Milford Makes Creative Reuse Pop-Up will take place at the Firehouse Gallery in Milford\, CT. The weekend is part of Milford Makes’ long-term effort to establish a permanent Makerspace and Creative Reuse Center where affordable creative materials can find a second life and people of all ages can learn\, make\, and connect. The hour-long tour explores the Historical Society’s preserved buildings at Lambert Corner\, a site that comprises Wilton’s Historic District #1. \nThe tour includes Lambert House\, formerly known as Lilacstead and built on the site of the original homestead around 1726\, along with eight additional historic structures moved to the property for preservation. Guests will see the Lambert Cottage\, Kent District School\, Hurlbutt Street Country Store and Post Office\, Wilton Railroad Station\, Davenport Barn\, Cannon Family General Store\, 18th-century Cannon Family Corn Crib\, and the George Davenport Greek Revival Privy. \nThe buildings were relocated to the original Lambert homestead at the intersection of Routes 7 and 33 over the past 40 years. Many have been adapted for contemporary use as shops and offices\, reflecting the Wilton Historical Society’s early work in historic preservation and adaptive reuse.
