SUMMARY:Ari Axelrod: My Year in Anatevka at Westport Country Playhouse
DESCRIPTION:Ari Axelrod brings My Year in Anatevka to Westport Country Playhouse on Tuesday\, September 15\, at 7 pm for a musical and personal reflection inspired by Fiddler on the Roof. \nOver the course of one year\, Axelrod performed in three productions of Fiddler on the Roof across three states\, portraying six different characters ranging from fathers and sons to dreamers\, skeptics\, a milkman\, a tailor\, and a priest. The experience took on new meaning as the Jewish world grappled with the aftermath of October 7\, 2023\, bringing themes of tradition\, identity\, displacement\, resilience\, and hope into sharper focus. \nFeaturing beloved songs from Fiddler on the Roof\, behind-the-scenes stories from the three productions\, and music inspired by the musical’s memorable characters\, including songs that did not make it to Broadway\, My Year in Anatevka explores the ways familiar stories can take on new meaning. \nThe performance offers a warm\, humorous\, and moving tribute to Fiddler on the Roof while reflecting on the unexpected ways stories passed down through generations can provide comfort and connection. \nMore information and tickets are available at https://www.westportplayhouse.org/show/ari-axelrod-my-year-in-anatevka/.

SUMMARY:Revolutionary Roots: Generations of Change at Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum
DESCRIPTION:A new exhibition exploring untold stories of the American Revolution will be on view from June 11 through October 3\, 2026 at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum\, 295 West Avenue\, Norwalk\, CT 06856. \nOpening day on June 11 begins with exhibition access from 2 pm to 4 pm\, followed by a reception from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Curated by museum consultant Stacey Danielson\, with assistance from curatorial researcher Midge Lopat\, the exhibit commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by examining the Revolutionary War through the lives of the Lockwood and Mathews families. \nThe exhibition highlights newly uncovered research on Patriot ancestors\, including Captain Eliphalet Lockwood of Norwalk\, whose home was destroyed during the war\, and Lieutenant Colonel Sampson Mathews of the Virginia Militia. Through period costumes\, historical artifacts\, and interpretive displays\, the exhibit offers insight into their personal experiences and the broader impact of the Revolution. \nRevolutionary Roots provides a deeper look at local and regional connections to America’s founding\, offering visitors a meaningful perspective on the individuals and families who shaped early American history. \nFor tickets and more information\, visit lockwoodmathewsmansion.com.
